Love poems are one of the best ways into a woman’s heart. A man sometimes has a very difficult time expressing himself to the woman that he loves. There are few better ways to express your love than through a love poem. The man does not have to speak and listen and wait as the love of his life discovers all of his feelings for her. Also, she can cherish a love poem forever. Even when you are not around, she will always have your poem to remind her of all the love you have for her - and cared enough to show.
But, how does a guy go about writing a love poem? Short and sweet is nice but the longer the love poem is, the more your loved one will have to cherish. However, you do not want it too long because it will lose its effect. Try to keep the poem under one page and remember they are not paragraphs that you are writing, they are more like short sentences.
What should you write? Something original! Do not plagiarize. This is not because she might report you, but you want something that comes directly from your heart. She will be able to tell. Women are good like that! Besides, you don't want her to find it written elsewhere in the future - you would look like a shallow jerk. It's better to stick your neck out and risk sounding retarded than to give her someone else's words.
You might sound corny, but you will still get your message through. That is the point of a love poem and sometimes love is corny. Also, don't try to be overly sophisticated. Do not write "Roses are red, violets are blue, you are my girlfriend, so I love you." That is not going to cut it. Go with the sonnet format instead. A super romantic gesture would be to find her favorite song and mimic your love poem after the lyrics of it. After all, music lyrics are poems - just with music. Then you will be able to sing (or maybe you could hire someone to sing if you are a little out of tune) your love poem lyrics along with the musical background of her favorite song. Talk about brownie points!
Women loved to be loved. They love to hear about what makes them special to you. They want to know why you are with them and not with another woman. If she has a special feature that you fell in love with, fit it into your love poem. Try to stick with a theme. You can write a love poem about the things you love to do with her (or to her!). You can write a love poem about the first time you met or even what you feel like every time she walks into the room. As long as you put careful thought and heart into your love poem, your significant other will love you even more after she reads it.
Don't worry about sounding stupid - you probably will. You're a guy. You see, that's the beauty of it to her: You're stepping outside of your comfort zone to demonstrate to her that she has your heart. That's why love poems are so damn romantic! Get it? Now go write her a love poem - she will be sure that you are the stuff then!
