Sexy is subjective; one person’s idea of what constitutes sexy versus another’s can be diametrically opposed. But one thing that all sexy guys have in common is that they all exude confidence, it’s as though it seeps from their very soul. In general, sexy doesn’t have to be inherent; you’re not SOL just because you weren’t born with a sexy gene. You can develop or even buy “sexy” traits.
A poll asked “how do you define sexy?” The answers were varied and some surprising. I’ve categorized the responses below.
Inherently Sexy – If you’ve got these traits, congratulations. A higher being has blessed you. That doesn’t mean, though, that possessing a single sexy trait makes you sexy. If you meet someone who thinks long tapered fingers are sexy, and you don’t have the finger thing working, but you’ve got sexy bedroom eyes, it’s still a miss. You’ll have to launch into one of your other sexy attributes to snag her. Items with a * simply mean that this “inherited” sexy trait can be “improved.”
• Eyes – heavy lidded, dreamy bedroom eyes
• Hands – long, tapered fingers, not too hairy or with big knuckles, neat nails
• Voice – deep, husky, throaty
• Laugh – soft chuckle, not a guffaw
• Smile* - quick, sincere, not phony
• Hair* – or absence of it; neat, well groomed
• Strong shoulders* - the kind you want to rest your head on
• Tight butt* - the kind that looks as good naked as it does in a pair of jeans
• Muscles* - nice definition, not too hulked out
• Intelligence* - quick witted and smart, but not a know-it-all
Attitudinally Sexy – Even without an “inherently sexy” trait, if you’ve got one of these, and it’s a strong one, it can stand alone on its own merits. Now some of these are also inherent, but others can be developed over time.
• Comfortable in their own skin – no matter where you are, you’re there
• Sense of humor – subtle, spontaneous, a little sarcastic and cynical, not slapstick
• Sense of spirit and adventure – a little bit devil-may-care, but not stupidly reckless
• Charisma – personal magnetism, people are just naturally drawn to you
• Charm – always saying or doing the right thing, in all circumstances
• Empathy/Sympathy – sincere, not just because you think it’s what your date wants to hear
Materially Sexy – Add-ons that can change people’s perception of you. Without them, you may not be sexy at all.
• Money – the more, the better
• Clothes – the better, the better
• Mode of transport – think BMW, Jaguar, Porsche, Gulfstream V; not Ford, Chevy, GM
• Cologne – a good one, like Bulgari, not Old Spice
• Job – any job earning 6 figures is sexy, 7 figures is better
Sexy Improvements – These are things that can be “inherently” sexy, but if you weren’t fortunate enough to be born with them, there are ways to turn an unsexy negative into a sexy positive.
• Muscles* - it’s called a gym
• Tight butt – ditto
• Washboard abs – double ditto
• Great smile* - dentist or orthodontist
• Hair* - professional stylist, Hair Club for Men, electrologist
• Body language* - practice, practice, practice
• Intelligence* - read a book, go to college
As I said earlier, sexy is subjective, and all in the eye of the beholder. Think, in your lifetime, how many times you’ve said something like, “what the hell does she see in that guy?” Hmmm? Could be that he’s got a sexy trait that is not obvious to you, but it also could be that he’s “sexy” just for her. Just because you don’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there.
