Relationship quizzes run the gamut from silly to serious. Taken for what they’re worth, they’re fun and sometimes even informative.

The Internet is crawling with relationship quizzes. From cheating spouses to flirting styles, it seems there’s a quiz out there ready to advise you on every aspect of romance. Can you take away a ton of valuable insight? Probably not. Can you have some fun? Definitely!

Can I really learn anything from relationship quizzes?

The value of a relationship quiz depends largely on who created it. Most relationship quizzes are meant to be fun and silly and were written by everyday people. Other relationship quizzes were created by bona fide relationship experts. The “just for fun” quizzes have entertainment value, but not much else. The quizzes written by experts, on the other, can provide you with beneficial information.

How can you tell the difference? The non-expert quizzes are hosted on websites that are littered with pop-up ads. They contain dozens and dozens of quizzes with names like “Is that total hottie flirting with you?” No author is listed, and the entire site is done in giant purple font.

Expert-created relationship quizzes, on the other hand, will be one section of a larger relationship advice site. The author’s name, followed by their credentials, will be listed. There will also probably be a collection of articles included on the site and links to other good resources. The site will have an overall professional look and intelligent content.

Relationship quizzes that could lead to big trouble

Some relationship quizzes can lead to T-R-O-U-B-L-E. Relying on the results of 10-question quiz to make important decisions about your relationship probably isn’t the wisest thing to do.

For instance, there are oodles of quizzes to help you determine whether your partner is cheating. It’s hardly an exact science, and you could wind up accusing someone who’s been nothing but true blue.

Imagine this scene:

Girlfriend: “You womanizing jerk! You’ve been cheating on me!”

Boyfriend: “What on Earth are you talking about?!?!”

Girlfriend: “There’s no use denying it. I took one of those relationship quizzes and now I know the truth!”

Here are a few other relationship quizzes not fit for basing your life-changing decisions on:
1. Does your boyfriend/girlfriend deserve you?
2. It is time to end it?
3. Does he/she love you?
4. Should you file for divorce?

Getting to know yourself

You can actually benefit from relationship quizzes that help you learn more about yourself. Some personality tests are based on accepted psychological research, such as the Jung-Myers-Briggs test. These relationship quizzes are more useful when you take them before you enter into a relationship. They can help you determine what types of people you’re most compatible with. You can also gain some insight into the reasons that your past relationships failed, such as jealousy, fear of intimacy, or possessiveness.

Just plain fun!

Relationship quizzes can be the source of a few good chuckles. Some are downright silly, such as “What type of pizza best describes your lover?” Others provide you with alternative ways of determining your compatibility, such as zodiac signs and handwriting analysis. You can also determine your personal flirting style, and find out which celebrities you’re most compatible with. If you need to put a smile on your face, take a few wacky relationship quizzes. You may not become the next Dr. Phil, but it’s a fun way to spend 10 minutes.

As long as you don’t take them too seriously, relationship quizzes can be a lot of fun. You probably shouldn’t file divorce papers over the results, but you might learn a thing or two about yourself. Next time you come across a particularly silly relationship quiz (“Is your dog smarter than your boyfriend?”) be sure to forward it to a friend and share the laughter.

To me they are just an opinion. If everyone relied on someones opinion then I think this world would be a lot different. Just my view though.
